Started: November 2005
Status: Both completed
Detail: Both entrance gates received attention. The first one was the “kliphek”.
Originally the old guard house had a stone dome. To soften the appearance it was replaced with a thatched roof.
The second entrance to get some TLC was the main entrance.
Weekend visitors may not think we have so much traffic, but during the week, while construction teams are busy an average of 90 people come and go daily. More than 400 vehicles visit Highlands in a month. The position of the main gate is moved back from the road so as to avoid some of the associated dust and also to provide a safe area for people to stop while entry procedures are being taken care of. Above all the quality look adds value for us all!
